What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-5EE42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection, rated at 32 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM220 thermal-magnetic release. It delivers 187 kA breaking capacity at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 440 V — these numbers tell you it can safely interrupt very high fault currents without upstream coordination issues. The adjustable li max of 320 A gives you a short-circuit pickup range to tune for the load. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, and the maximum DC operational voltage is 600 V, so it handles both AC and DC distribution panels. The front face carries IP40 protection — fine for a clean indoor panel, but not for washdown environments.
Sourcing and lifecycle
Power loss is 10.6 W maximum, which matters for thermal budgeting inside a sealed enclosure. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Integration into the panel
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, and 130 mm high — it occupies a standard MCCB footprint on the DIN rail or panel-mount base. The 4-pole design covers three-phase plus neutral, with no integrated N-conductor protection (separate N protection is external). An optional motor drive (product extension) is available for remote switching. No communication function is built in, so any remote monitoring requires an external module or I/O.
