What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-5EF32-0JA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release and an integrated shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping. It is built for panel mounting in commercial and industrial distribution boards where selective coordination and high fault-current handling are required.
Interrupting capacity — the number that matters
This breaker delivers 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. Those figures define the maximum fault current it can safely clear without welding contacts or rupturing the case — critical for sizing upstream protection and verifying SCCR on the panel label. At 690 V the 17 kA rating still covers most industrial motor branch circuits; at 240 V the 187 kA rating handles high-capacity transformer secondaries.
Thermal current rating and derating
Rated 32 A continuous at 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. It derates to 31 A at 55 °C and 60 °C, and to 30 A at 65 °C and 70 °C. The TM240 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit — no interchangeable rating plugs. If your load draws a steady 32 A in a 55 °C panel, you need to step up to the next frame size or improve ventilation.
Dimensions and panel fit
The case measures 130 mm tall, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or backplate mounting systems. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or cable ladders behind the panel door.
