Rated for the line — what the interrupting numbers mean
The 3VA1132-5EF32-0KH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection at 32 A continuous current (Iu). The interrupting rating climbs to 187 kA at 240 V and drops to 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — so the available fault current at your service voltage is what governs fit, not the headline number. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles the overload and short-circuit curve; a built-in shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping, and the auxiliary contact pack includes two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ) for status feedback to the PLC or annunciator.
Thermal derating — don't ignore the ambient curve
This breaker holds its full 32 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, it derates: 30.72 A at 55 °C, 30.08 A at 60 °C, 29.44 A at 65 °C, and 28.8 A at 70 °C. If your panel sits near a furnace or drive cabinet that pushes internal air past 50 °C, size the load side accordingly — the breaker will trip earlier than a cold-bench test suggests. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width (3-pole base), 70 mm depth. Front face carries IP40 protection — suitable for enclosed panel mounting where no water jets or dust ingress are expected. The shunt trip release (order code 3VA9688-0BL33) is integrated; no external wiring needed for the trip coil.
