What this MCCB delivers for the panel
The Siemens 3VA1132-5EF36-0AF0 is a SENTRON 3VA1 molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) configured for line protection — 3-pole, rated 32 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic release. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 440 V, dropping to 17 kA at 500 V and 690 V. That SCCR headroom means it can sit upstream of a distribution panel with high-fault utility feeds without cascading failure. The TM240 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit — no interchangeable rating plugs, so the 32 A frame is the only ampacity this breaker carries. For a panel builder, that simplifies the BOM: one order code, one trip curve, no field-adjustment risk.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 3VA1 frame mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter — standard for Siemens SENTRON switchgear.
Temperature derating and continuous current
Rated 32 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C and 60 °C it derates to 31 A; at 65 °C and 70 °C it holds 30 A. The TM240 release compensates thermally, so a panel in a hot machine room or near a furnace wall still delivers 30 A continuous without nuisance tripping.
Auxiliary switching and signaling
Factory-fitted with one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HQ type). The trip alarm signals on overcurrent or short-circuit trip — useful for remote fault annunciation in a PLC-driven line. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant.
