Line protection MCCB, 32 A frame
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-5EF36-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 32 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its 187 kA breaking capacity at 240 V AC means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers. At 415 V the rating holds at 121 kA, and at 690 V it still clears 17 kA, so the part handles standard industrial supply voltages across the board. The TM240 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic design — no interchangeable trip units — so the 32 A rating is locked at order. If your BOM calls for adjustable or electronic trip curves, this isn't the variant; but for straightforward line protection where the load current is stable, it's a clean, single-part-number solution. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 690 V systems without derating the insulation path.
Auxiliaries and releases
This unit ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) integrated — when control voltage drops below the dropout threshold, the breaker trips, which is standard for safety circuits that need to disconnect on power loss. The auxiliary contact block is a 2-switch HQ version (high-rupturing-capacity auxiliary contacts), and the integrated auxiliary trip is order code 3VA9608-0BB11. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, no voltage trigger — it's a pure thermal-magnetic line protection breaker with undervoltage supervision.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds full 32 A from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 30.72 A, at 65 °C to 29.44 A, and at 70 °C (the maximum operating ambient) to 28.8 A. If your panel runs hot — say a crowded enclosure near a furnace line — check the 55 °C and 60 °C columns before committing the BOM. The front face carries IP40 protection, so it's fine for general-purpose indoor panels but not for washdown or outdoor exposure without an enclosure. Dimensions: 76.2 mm wide (roughly 3 inches — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint), 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. The width is the critical fit dimension for DIN-rail or panel-mount spacing; at 76.2 mm it occupies the same slot as most 3-pole SENTRON frames, so swapping in a panel built for the 3VA1110 or 3VA1112 series should work without drilling new holes or moving the busbars.
