What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1132-5EF36-0CA0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 circuit breaker from the 3VA1 series, rated for line protection with a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit. Its headline breaking capacity is 55 kA at 415 V AC (class M), which means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault panels where a lower-rated breaker would let an arc through to the next device. Rated at In = 32 A, the overload protection is adjustable via Ir from 22 A to 32 A, and the short-circuit pickup Ii is set at 5 to 10 times In. The built-in undervoltage release (UVR) operates on 120–127 V AC, 50/60 Hz, so it will trip the breaker if control voltage drops — a common requirement for safety circuits and emergency-stop chains. Clamp-type terminals simplify panel wiring.
Where it fits in the panel
The 3VA1 frame 160 mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. The clamp terminals accept copper conductors up to the frame's rated cross-section, and the UVR coil draws its control voltage from a separate 120–127 V AC supply.
