32 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupt rating — the line-protection variant
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-5GD42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) carrying a permanent rated current Iu of 32 A at 40 °C, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic release tuned for line protection rather than motor or generator duty. The TM210 designation means the thermal pickup is fixed at 1.0 × In and the magnetic short-circuit trip is set at 10 × In — a standard distribution profile that avoids nuisance tripping on transformer inrush or capacitor banks. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC and still delivers 121 kA at 415 V and 75.6 kA at 440 V, tapering to 17 kA at 500 V and 690 V. Those figures place it comfortably above typical utility fault levels for North American 480Y/277 V and European 400 V panels — the SCCR headroom means it can be installed without cascading an upstream current-limiting fuse for most industrial service entrances. Panel footprint is 130 mm high × 101.6 mm wide × 70 mm deep, with IP40 protection on the front face. The breaker accepts an optional motor drive, which is relevant for remote-tripping or generator-paralleling schemes. Ground-fault monitoring is not included; a separate GF module or upstream RCD would be needed for personnel protection.
The 101.6 mm width matches the standard 4-inch MCCB pole spacing for North American panelboards — a direct swap into existing SENTRON 3VA1 or competitive 4-pole breaker slots without bus-bar rework. Depth of 70 mm keeps the breaker inside typical 6-inch deep enclosures without door interference.
