Breaking capacity and selectivity
The 3VA1132-6ED42-0AA0 is a 4-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, with a continuous current Iu of 32 A and a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 500 V and 690 V — figures that govern selectivity coordination downstream. The 220 kA at 240 V means this breaker can safely clear a fault at the full prospective short-circuit current of a large industrial service entrance without cascading upstream.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The current rating holds at 32 A up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 31 A at 55 °C and 60 °C, and 30 A at 65 °C and 70 °C. In a sealed panel with poor airflow, that 2 A drop matters for continuous load sizing. The breaker occupies 70 mm depth, 101.6 mm width, and 130 mm height, with IP40 protection on the front — standard for indoor switchboard mounting. The adjustable instantaneous trip (li) maxes at 320 A, giving some headroom for motor inrush coordination.
DC capability and optional motor drive
The breaker supports DC operation up to 600 V, though the short-circuit design note refers to the 3VA device manual for DC network values. An optional motor drive is available as a product extension, enabling remote trip and reset in automated switchgear.
