MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-6EF36-0AC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 32 A continuous current with a TM240 thermal-magnetic release. Its interrupting capacity hits 220 kA at 240 V and 154 kA at 415 V, which means it can safely clear faults on high-capacity transformers or busway taps without cascading upstream — a key spec for main or tie-breaker positions in industrial switchboards.
Thermal derating and selectivity
The breaker holds full 32 A rating up to 50 °C ambient, then derates linearly to 28.8 A at 70 °C. That thermal curve matters when the MCCB shares a crowded enclosure with other heat sources — a panel OEM can count on the full ampacity below 55 °C without oversizing the frame. The TM240 release has an adjustable long-time delay tr max of 1 s, giving the commissioning engineer room to coordinate with downstream branch breakers for selective tripping.
Panel fit and auxiliary wiring
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm tall — a standard MCCB footprint that drops into existing SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts. The breaker ships with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) pre-installed, so the MRO planner gets status feedback without ordering a separate accessory kit. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault module, and no communication function on this variant; keep that in mind if the BOM calls for remote trip or GFCI capability.
