Line protection MCCB with thermal-magnetic release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-6EF36-0JC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current Iu of 32 A at 40 °C ambient. Its TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release handles both overload and short-circuit trip curves without external power. Breaking capacity is specified at multiple voltage levels: 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — the 240 V and 415 V figures cover the common low-voltage distribution fault-current ranges in North American and IEC panels respectively.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated current holds at 32 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, derating is linear: 30.72 A at 55 °C, 30.08 A at 60 °C, 29.44 A at 65 °C, and 28.8 A at 70 °C. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range extends from -40 °C to 80 °C. For a panel builder, this means the breaker can be mounted in a warm enclosure without forced cooling as long as the continuous load stays under the derated figure at the actual internal temperature.
Auxiliary and shunt trip configuration
This variant ships with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) and a shunt trip (STL) release. The integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9688-0BL32. No undervoltage release, no communication function, no phase failure detection, and no ground fault monitoring are fitted on this order code — those are separate option variants. The shunt trip allows remote tripping via a control signal, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or supervisory control schemes.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 76.2 mm wide (3-pole base), 130 mm tall, and 70 mm deep. Front protection is IP40. The breaker mounts via screw terminals and fits standard Siemens SENTRON 3VA panel footprints. No trip indicator is fitted on this variant. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 operations. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V.
