Thermal derating and ambient limits
The 3VA1140-3EF32-0DH0: Full 40 A rating holds through 50 °C; above that it derates to 38.4 A at 55 °C, 37.6 A at 60 °C, 36.8 A at 65 °C, and 36 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. That 70 °C ceiling matches the top of the derating curve — the breaker runs at 36 A in a hot enclosure, which is the real number to use for a panel sitting near a furnace line or in a South Asian summer.
Integrated undervoltage release and auxiliary contacts
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) built in — the design of the auxiliary release is UVR, so the breaker trips automatically when supply voltage drops below the release threshold. Auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ type), giving three separate signal paths for the PLC or status lamp. The integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9608-0BB25, which is the factory-fit module on this specific build.
Panel fit and dimensions
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops into most SENTRON distribution panels and switchboard chassis without re-drilling. Front IP40 protection keeps dust out of the toggle and trip-indicator window; the trip indicator is present, so you get a visual flag on fault. No voltage trigger, no communication function, no phase failure detection — this is a straight thermal-magnetic breaker for basic line protection, not a smart metering device.
