MCCB for line protection — 40 A, 3-pole, TM220 release
The Siemens 3VA1140-4EE32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a 40 A continuous rating at 40 °C through 50 °C, with minor derating above that — 39 A at 55–60 °C, 38 A at 65 °C, and 37 A at 70 °C. The TM220 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without electronic adjustment.
Interrupting capacity across voltages
This 3-pole breaker delivers 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. The steep drop above 440 V is typical of MCCBs with this frame size — the 11.9 kA at 500/690 V still covers most industrial secondary-distribution fault levels, but verify against your system's available fault current at those voltages.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The IP40 front protection means it's suitable for enclosed panel mounting where no water ingress is expected. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. Power loss at rated current is 10.8 W maximum — account for this in thermal calculations for dense panel layouts.
