What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1140-4EE46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 40 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM220 thermal-magnetic trip unit — fixed thermal and fixed magnetic settings, no electronic adjustment. The 121 kA breaking capacity at 240 V AC means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream fuses or a larger frame; at 415 V it still holds 75.6 kA, and at 690 V it derates to 11.9 kA. That SCCR headroom makes it a fit for high-fault panels where downstream coordination matters — think main or branch feeder in an industrial distribution board.
Integration and mounting
Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate — the 101.6 mm width (4 in) and 70 mm depth (2.76 in) fit standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts. IP40 on the front means it's protected against tools and small wires entering the breaker face, but not sealed against moisture; keep it inside a rated enclosure for washdown or outdoor duty. Rated insulation voltage 800 V covers 480/600 VAC systems with margin. Maximum power loss 10.8 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a multi-breaker panel.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Current-production part — no phase-out or last-time-buy notice on record. Sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution.
