What this MCCB carries and what it protects
The SENTRON 3VA1140-4EF32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 40 A continuous at 40 °C, fitted with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release and a factory-installed undervoltage release (UVR). Interrupting capacity steps with system voltage: 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — the 690 V figure is the limiting one for high-voltage distribution panels. Thermal derating is minimal below 55 °C (full 40 A up to 50 °C), then drops to 39 A at 55–60 °C and 38 A at 65 °C, reaching 37 A at 70 °C — so in a warm enclosure you lose 3 A off the nameplate.
Panel fit and integration
Mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel; the 76.2 mm width matches the 3-pole MCCB standard footprint, and the 70 mm depth leaves room for rear-access wiring in a typical 200 mm deep enclosure. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it can be used in 690 V line-to-line systems with margin. The UVR coil is designed for undervoltage release (drop-out on voltage sag) — check the coil voltage rating on the nameplate before wiring.
Sourcing and lifecycle
Available to order through independent distribution; pricing and lead time confirmed at quote against an RFQ. For BOM-locked projects the 3VA family has broad UL/CSA/IEC approvals, so compliance documentation (declaration of conformity, CE, UKCA) is available on request.
