Siemens 3VA1140-5ED32-0AA0 — SENTRON 40 A MCCB
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1140-5ED32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 40 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection. It carries a TM210 thermal-magnetic release — fixed thermal, fixed magnetic — and an interrupting capacity of 187 kA at 240 VAC, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 75.6 kA at 440 V. At 500 V and 690 V the SCCR settles at 17 kA. That curve tells you the real-world short-circuit duty this breaker can clear without upstream coordination, and the 187 kA at 240 V is the headline number for low-voltage distribution panels.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 40 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 39 A, at 65 °C to 38 A, and at 70 °C to 37 A — no surprise for a thermal-magnetic breaker, but if you're packing this into a high-density switchboard with ambient near 60 °C, the effective continuous current drops to 39 A. The frame dissipates 10.8 W max at rated load. Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall — fits standard 3-pole MCCB panel cutouts. IP40 on the front, so it's fine inside a closed enclosure, not for washdown.
