What this MCCB delivers — and what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA1140-5EF32-0KA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for 40 A continuous at 40 °C, with a thermal-magnetic TM240 overcurrent release. That 40 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 39 A at 55–60 °C and 37 A at 70 °C — so in a warm enclosure you lose only a few amps before the thermal curve starts pulling the trip threshold down. The 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V is the headline number for fault duty; at 415 V it still breaks 121 kA, and at 690 V it holds 17 kA. For a 3-pole line-protection MCCB with a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release, this covers main feeder or large subfeed applications where you need both high interrupting capability and remote trip via the shunt coil.
Panel fit and integration
The 3VA1140-5EF32-0KA0 measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops into a SENTRON panelboard or a DIN-rail adapter. The shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release means you need a control voltage wired to the shunt coil for remote tripping; no undervoltage release is fitted, so the breaker stays latched on control-power loss unless the shunt is separately triggered. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it can sit in a 480 V or 600 V panel with headroom.
