Line protection MCCB with TM240 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1140-5EF36-0BH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a rated continuous current Iu of 40 A and a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release provides fixed overload and short-circuit protection curves; no voltage trigger is fitted. Breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that govern the available fault current the breaker can safely interrupt without upstream coordination failure. The breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) as the auxiliary release design, plus an auxiliary contact block configured as 2 auxiliary switches and 1 trip alarm switch (HQ). The integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9608-0BB11. No communication function, phase failure detection, ground fault monitoring, or other measurement function is built in.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated continuous current holds at 40 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, derating applies: 38.4 A at 55 °C, 37.6 A at 60 °C, 36.8 A at 65 °C, and 36 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The front face carries IP40 protection — suitable for enclosure mounting where the panel door provides the environmental seal.
Panel fit and mechanical endurance
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 3-pole footprint fits standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar systems. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15 000 operating cycles. A trip indicator is present. The reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q.
