What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA1140-6EE32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 40 A at 40 °C, with a TM220 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is designed for line protection in distribution panels. The interrupting rating hits 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V — enough for high-fault industrial services. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so this breaker handles 480/600 V class systems without derating the insulation.
Panel fit and mounting
The 3VA1140-6EE32-0AA0 occupies a 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep footprint — standard for a 3-pole SENTRON 3VA1 frame. Mounts on DIN rail or direct panel. Front face carries IP40 protection, so it's fine inside a clean enclosure but not for washdown areas. The TM220 release is fixed; no trip indicator or undervoltage release on this variant.
Thermal derating and real-world current
Rated 40 A from 40 °C up to 50 °C; at 55 °C it drops to 39 A, at 65 °C to 38 A, and at 70 °C to 37 A. That's a shallow derating curve — good for warm panels. Maximum power loss is 10.8 W, so heat buildup in a dense cabinet is manageable. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C.
