What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1140-6EF32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 40 A at 40 °C ambient and derating to 37 A at 70 °C. It is designed for main feeder or large branch-circuit protection in industrial panels, switchboards, and motor control centers.
Breaking capacity — what the voltage columns mean
This MCCB delivers 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and holds 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. The steep drop above 440 V is typical of a high-current frame optimized for low-voltage distribution — at 690 V the 17 kA rating still covers most industrial motor branch circuits, but verify the available fault current at the point of installation. The 800 V rated insulation voltage confirms the breaker is physically built for 690 V systems.
Built-in undervoltage release
The part includes an undervoltage release (UVR) as the auxiliary release, designated TM240 for the overcurrent release. The UVR automatically trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below a threshold — common on safety circuits, emergency-stop chains, or any load that must not auto-restart after a brownout. No communication function or ground-fault monitoring is fitted on this variant.
Panel fit and dimensions
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The 3-pole footprint matches standard SENTRON 3VA mounting patterns — it installs on a DIN rail or bolts directly into a panel bus. The 70 mm depth keeps it within typical enclosure clearances for distribution boards and motor control centers.
