What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1140-6EF36-0KC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 40 A continuous current with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its breaking capacity hits 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — so on a 480 V distribution panel it still clears over 100 kA without cascading upstream. The 800 V rated insulation voltage gives headroom for 690 V line-to-line systems.
Thermal derating and panel integration
This breaker holds its full 40 A rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 38.4 A, at 60 °C to 37.6 A, at 65 °C to 36.8 A, and at 70 °C to 36 A. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard DIN-rail or screw-mount panel layouts — plan for the derating if the enclosure runs hot near the top of the gland plate.
