Line protection MCCB for 50 A feeder circuits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1150-4ED22-0AA0 is a 2-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 50 A up to 45 °C ambient, then derates to 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C — so the full 50 A holds through most ventilated enclosures, but a hot panel corner above 55 °C knocks off an amp or two. Breaking capacity is 121 kA at 240 VAC and 75.6 kA at 415 VAC — numbers that put it well into high-fault-duty territory for commercial and light industrial mains. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without electronic trip-unit complexity; no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. It is a straightforward, hard-wired breaker for a 50 A feeder where you need the interrupting rating and do not need the accessories. Rated insulation voltage is 500 V, operating voltage 415 VAC or 250 VDC. The front carries IP40 protection — fine for a dry indoor panel, not for washdown. Dimensions are 130 mm high, 50.8 mm wide (2 inches — standard 2-pole MCCB width), 70 mm deep. Power loss at rated load is 9.74 W, which matters for thermal budgeting in a dense enclosure.
Panel fit and integration
Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount base in a standard distribution board. The 50.8 mm width (2 inches) matches the footprint of most 2-pole MCCBs in the SENTRON family, so it swaps into an existing cutout or busbar arrangement without re-drilling. IP40 on the front means the breaker face is protected against solid objects over 1 mm — standard for a closed cabinet.
