What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1150-4GF46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchgear. It carries a continuous current rating of 50 A and is fitted with a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit — the thermal element handles overloads, the magnetic element clears short circuits. The interrupting capacity is 121 kA at 240 VAC, stepping down to 75.6 kA at 415 VAC and 52.5 kA at 440 VAC; at 500 V and 690 V it holds 11.9 kA.
Ratings and what they mean for fit
The 50 A continuous rating holds across ambient temperatures up to 50 °C without derating; at 55 °C it drops to 49 A, at 60 °C to 48 A, and at 70 °C to 45 A — relevant if the breaker sits in a warm enclosure near other heat sources. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so the breaker can be applied in 690 VAC systems with margin. The TM240 trip unit is a fixed thermal-magnetic design — no electronic adjustment or communication function — so it is a straight swap for existing thermal-magnetic MCCB installations where selectivity and coordination are already calculated.
Integration and mounting
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth — fits standard MCCB panel cutouts and DIN-rail adapters for the SENTRON 3VA platform. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no ground-fault monitoring module fitted on this variant; those are added via accessory slots if needed.
