What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1150-5EF32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 50 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic release that provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings for line protection. The interrupting ratings span 187 kA at 240 V down to 17 kA at 690 V, so the breaker can handle high available fault current on the secondary side of a distribution transformer without cascading upstream. The thermal derating curve is published: it holds 50 A up to 50 °C, then drops to 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C — useful when the breaker lives in a crowded panel with elevated ambient.
Panel integration notes
The breaker measures 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, and 70 mm deep — a 3-pole footprint that fits standard DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. Front IP40 protection means it is suited for general-purpose indoor panels where dust ingress is limited. Power loss at full load is 14.6 W, so account for that heat in the enclosure thermal calculation. No undervoltage release, no communication function, no ground-fault monitoring — it is a straight thermal-magnetic line-protection device.
