SENTRON 3VA1150-5EF32-0HH0 — 50 A MCCB with TM240 Release
The Siemens 3VA1150-5EF32-0HH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 50 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415 V AC, making it suitable for high-fault-current industrial distribution panels where selectivity and SCCR headroom are critical.
Interrupting Capacity and Selectivity Planning
At 240 V the 3VA1150-5EF32-0HH0 clears 187 kA — enough for most transformer-secondaries and large motor-control-center feeds. At 415 V it still holds 121 kA; at 690 V it derates to 17 kA. The TM240 release provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings, so coordination studies need to account for the non-adjustable magnetic pickup. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 480/600 V systems without series-derating.
Current Derating and Ambient Temperature
The breaker carries 50 A from 40 °C through 50 °C without derating. Above that, current tapers: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. In a tightly packed panel with multiple breakers, the 70 °C ceiling (maximum operating temperature) means the 50 A frame can still serve a 45 A continuous load at the top of the ambient range. The front face is IP40-rated — adequate for general-purpose indoor enclosures but not washdown zones.
Auxiliary Contacts and Shunt Trip Configuration
This variant ships with two auxiliary switches plus one separate trip-alarm switch (HQ configuration). The integrated shunt trip (STL) release is designed for remote tripping; its order code is 3VA9688-0BL30. There is no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication module on this unit — it is a line-protection-only breaker with basic remote-trip capability.
