50 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity — line protection for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1150-5EF36-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 50 A at 40 °C, sized for line protection in distribution panels where fault currents can hit 187 kA at 240 V. That interrupting capacity drops to 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 500 V or 690 V — so it handles high-available-fault commercial and industrial services without cascading upstream. The 800 V rated insulation voltage covers 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin. Thermal derating is mild: it holds 50 A through 50 °C, then drops to 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C (–). That means in a 50 °C panel ambient — common in enclosed switchgear — you still get full ampacity. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C (–, –). Power loss at rated load is 14.6 W, worth factoring into enclosure thermal calculations.
Auxiliary and release configuration — shunt trip, two aux switches, trip alarm
This variant ships with a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping, plus two auxiliary switches and one trip alarm switch in an HQ configuration. The basic switch assembly is order code 3VA11505EF360AA0. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. The trip indicator and voltage trigger are present. For a panel that needs remote open via a PLC or E-stop contact, the shunt trip covers it without adding a separate relay.
Dimensions and panel fit — 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. That 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for the 3VA frame — it drops into the same mounting hole pattern and bus-bar spacing as other 3VA three-pole units. Depth of 70 mm (2.76 in) leaves clearance for rear-connected bus stabs or plug-in base adapters in a typical distribution panel. No DIN-rail mounting on this frame; it bolts directly to a mounting plate or busbar system.
