Breaking capacity and coordination
The Siemens 3VA1150-6EF36-0AB0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 molded case circuit breaker rated for 70 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC — class H on the 3VA1 platform. That 70 kA Icu means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without welding contacts or cascading an arc upstream, which is the figure that governs selective coordination with downstream branch breakers in a distribution panel. The TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit gives you a fixed In of 50 A with an adjustable overload protection band Ir = 35…50 A, so you dial in the continuous current to match the cable or load without swapping the breaker body. Short-circuit pickup Ii is adjustable 5…10 × In (250…500 A), letting you tune out nuisance tripping on motor inrush while still clearing a hard fault.
Trip adjustment and installation
Clamp connection terminals accept copper or aluminum conductors — no lug kit needed for most panel builds. The breaker ships with two factory-installed auxiliary switches (HP type) for remote status indication or PLC feedback on the open/closed position. Mounts on a standard DIN rail or direct panel-mount via the 3VA1 accessory kit; the frame 160 footprint matches the 3VA1 family, so busbar and phase-barrier parts are shared across the line.
