What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1150-6EF36-0JC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 50 A continuous rating at 40 °C and 220 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V mean it can safely clear high-fault currents without upstream coordination issues. The 3-pole frame handles three-phase loads, and the integrated shunt trip (STL) plus two auxiliary switches HQ give remote tripping and status feedback — useful for safety circuits or remote monitoring in cold storage or process lines.
Ratings that matter for fit
The breaker carries 50 A continuously from 40 °C through 50 °C (–), then derates to 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the effective ampacity drops — size the upstream conductor and load accordingly. The interrupting ratings span 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 500 V and 690 V (–). That 17 kA floor at 690 V is still high enough for most industrial secondary-distribution applications. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V.
Physical fit and panel integration
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. That 3-inch width matches the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint on a DIN rail or panel-mount base. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C (–), storage from -40 °C to 80 °C (–). Maximum power loss is 14.6 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a ventilated enclosure.
