The Siemens 3VA1150-6GF42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 50 A continuous with a 4-pole configuration, designed for line protection in commercial and industrial distribution panels. The TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release handles both overload and short-circuit protection without an external trip unit — a fixed-trip design that simplifies panel wiring and reduces points of failure.
Breaking capacity and derating
The interrupting capacity is voltage-dependent: 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 220 kA at 240 V places it in the high-fault category for North American 277/480 V panelboards where the line-to-neutral fault current can exceed 100 kA. At 690 V the 17 kA rating still covers most industrial motor-control-center fault levels. Thermal derating is minimal up to 50 °C — the breaker holds full 50 A. Above that it drops linearly: 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. In a sealed, uncooled enclosure near other heat sources, plan for the 70 °C figure as the effective continuous rating.
Panel integration
The breaker occupies 101.6 mm width, 130 mm height, and 70 mm depth — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures without re-drilling. The front face carries IP40 protection, adequate for enclosed distribution boards but not for washdown environments.
