Switch disconnector for isolation and safety disconnection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-1AA42-0DC0 is a 4-pole switch disconnector in MCCB design, rated 63 A continuous across the full operating range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to the 70 °C max. It provides load-break isolation for a 690 V AC or 600 V DC circuit, with an undervoltage release (UVR) coil rated 208-230 V AC 50/60 Hz that trips the switch on loss of control voltage. Two HQ auxiliary switches (form C) give status feedback to a PLC or safety relay. The UVR is wired in series with an emergency-stop or guard-door contact — when that circuit opens, the disconnector opens instantly, isolating downstream loads. The HQ aux switches are rated for high mechanical endurance and share the same 15 000-cycle mechanical life as the main switch. No overload or short-circuit protection is built in; this part is a pure disconnector, not a circuit breaker.
Flat thermal curve simplifies panel sizing
Rated 63 A at every temperature point from 40 °C to 70 °C — no thermal derating curve to calculate. That means the 63 A nameplate holds even in a hot enclosure near a drive or transformer. The 38 W maximum power loss at rated current is manageable with standard panel ventilation. Busbar connection on the front terminals keeps wiring clean and reduces cable congestion in the panel.
