Switch disconnector for load-break and isolation duty
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-1AA42-0KH0 is a 4-pole switch disconnector in MCCB design rated for 63 A continuous current (Iu). It provides visible isolation and load-break switching without overload or short-circuit protection — that's the role of the upstream MCCB or fuse. The 63 A rating means it handles the full load current of a moderate-sized sub-distribution or machine infeed, and the 4-pole configuration (3 phases + neutral) suits TN or TT systems where the neutral must be switched and isolated. The IP40 front protection keeps dust and tools out of the enclosure cutout, but the back and sides rely on the panel's own IP rating.
Shunt trip and auxiliary contact complement
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) release for remote tripping — coil rated 220-250 V DC or 208-277 V AC, so it drops the disconnect on a remote E-stop or PLC-initiated signal. The auxiliary contact block provides 2 normally-open/normally-closed auxiliary switches (HQ type) plus 1 trip alarm switch, giving the panel builder three independent signal paths for status feedback to the controller or HMI. The front-terminal busbar connection keeps wiring clean on a DIN-rail or mounting-plate layout; the 101.6 mm width and 70 mm depth fit standard 160 A frame cutouts.
Electrical ratings and environmental limits
Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, and maximum operational voltage is 690 V AC (50/60 Hz) or 600 V DC — so it's suitable for 400/480 VAC industrial panels and 600 VDC battery or solar circuits. The rated short-time withstand (2 kA for 1 s or 0.5 s) covers the conditional short-circuit rating when backed by an upstream protective device. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to +80 °C. Maximum power loss at rated current is 38 W, which matters for enclosure thermal calculations.
