What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-3EF32-0AE0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current Iu of 63 A and a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its breaking capacity reaches 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 10.5 kA at 690 V — figures that govern its ability to safely interrupt fault currents in distribution panels and motor branch circuits. The TM240 release means the thermal element is fixed at 63 A (the rated current), with magnetic pickup adjustable via the front dial — typical for protecting cable and busbar against overload and short-circuit without nuisance tripping on motor inrush.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
This breaker holds its full 63 A rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, current must be derated: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range spans -25 °C to +70 °C; storage limits are -40 °C to +80 °C.
Panel fit and auxiliary wiring
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel-mount base; the 76.2 mm width (roughly 3 inches) and 70 mm depth fit typical distribution enclosures. Front IP40 protection keeps dust and tools out of the mechanism. Four auxiliary switches (HQ type) are built in — two NO + two NC — for status feedback to a PLC or remote indication without needing a separate aux block.
