SENTRON 3VA1163-3EF32-0CC0 — 63 A MCCB with TM240 Release
The Siemens 3VA1163-3EF32-0CC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It carries a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 10.5 kA at 690 V — numbers that define the maximum fault it can clear without venting or upstream coordination failure. This is a line-protection device, not a motor-protection or ground-fault variant. The TM240 release means the thermal element is fixed at a 240 A short-circuit pickup — the breaker is sized for feeder or distribution duty where the load current stays under 63 A and the available fault current at the panelboard is known.
Thermal Derating and Operating Envelope
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. If the panel internal ambient hits 60 °C, the breaker effectively becomes a 59 A device — factor that into the load schedule before committing the BOM line. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 480/277 V or 600 V systems without de-rating the dielectric withstand.
Auxiliaries and Releases
Factory-fitted with an undervoltage release (UVR) — part of the integrated auxiliary trip assembly 3VA9608-0BB24. This means the breaker drops out on loss of control voltage, which is the standard configuration for emergency-stop and safety isolation circuits where a dropout on power loss is required. Carries two auxiliary switches HQ (high-qualified) for remote status indication. The HQ designation typically means gold-plated contacts rated for low-voltage / low-current PLC inputs. No communication function, no voltage trigger, no phase-failure detection, no ground-fault monitoring. This is a straight thermal-magnetic breaker with UVR and aux switches — nothing more, nothing less.
Panel Fit and Integration
Dimensions: 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall. Front protection is IP40 — fine for a dry indoor panel, not for washdown or outdoor enclosures without a secondary cover. The 3-pole format with line-protection duty means it mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel plate in a distribution board. Latching endurance is rated at 15,000 cycles.
