The Siemens 3VA1163-3EF36-0JA0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is configured for line protection — no undervoltage release, no auxiliary contacts, no communication module. The shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release is included as standard, part number 3VA9688-0BL32 for the integrated trip unit.
Breaking capacity across voltages
This MCCB delivers 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 10.5 kA at 690 V. The 75.6 kA figure at 240 V is the highest short-circuit rating in the 3VA1 line for a 63 A frame — useful for high-fault panels fed by large transformers. At 415 V the 52.5 kA rating still covers most industrial service-entrance requirements without needing a current-limiting upstream device.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds full 63 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the load circuit at the derated value — not the nameplate 63 A. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard DIN-rail or mounting-plate layouts; the 130 mm height leaves clearance for busbar connections above the line terminals.
