63 A MCCB with TM240 release — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA1163-4EF32-0HH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a thermal-magnetic TM240 overcurrent release. That 63 A holds flat through 50 °C; at 55 °C it derates to 60.48 A, then 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C — so if your panel ambient runs hot, the continuous rating drops, and you size the load accordingly. Interrupting capacity is 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds; the 75.6 kA at 415 V handles most industrial distribution. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 480/277 V or 600 V systems. The front carries IP40 protection — fine for a closed panel, not for washdown.
Footprint and auxiliaries — what fits in the DIN space
Width 76.2 mm, depth 70 mm, height 130 mm. That 76.2 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint — three 25.4 mm modules — so it drops into the same DIN-rail slot as other SENTRON 3VA frames. The auxiliary contact block is fitted as 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ version). A shunt trip (STL) is integrated as the auxiliary release; the integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9688-0BL30. No undervoltage release, no communication module, no phase failure detection — this is a straight line-protection breaker with a remote trip option.
