63 A MCCB with shunt trip — SENTRON 3VA1 line protection
The Siemens 3VA1163-4EF32-0KA0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection. It carries 63 A continuously at 40 °C (derated to 58 A at 70 °C), with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. The shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release lets you trip the breaker remotely via a control signal — useful for emergency-stop circuits or interlocking schemes where you need to drop the load from a PLC or safety relay without pulling the handle. Breaking capacity runs from 121 kA at 240 V down to 11.9 kA at 690 V — that 121 kA figure at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds common in North American commercial and light industrial panels. At 415 V (typical European distribution) it still handles 75.6 kA, giving solid selectivity headroom downstream. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's fine for 690 V systems without de-rating the insulation.
Panel fit and integration
The 3VA1 frame measures 130 mm high × 76.2 mm wide × 70 mm deep. Width is 3 in. Maximum power dissipation is 17.3 W. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
Comparison with 3VA1110-5ED36-0AC0
The 3VA1110-5ED36-0AC0 is a smaller-frame SENTRON MCCB with electronic release and no shunt trip. The 3VA1163-4EF32-0KA0 carries the shunt trip (STL) as standard. The 3VA1110 frame is physically larger.
