What this MCCB carries
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-4EF36-0JH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection. It holds 63 A continuously at 40 °C and derates only slightly through 70 °C — still delivering 58 A at the top of the operating range. That thermal curve means it handles a full 63 A load in a typical 40 °C panel without needing to oversize the frame. Breaking capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, and still delivers 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA figure at 240 V is the headline number for high-fault installations — it clears a bolted fault at that level without cascading upstream, which is what you need when the transformer is right around the corner from the panel.
Panel fit and auxiliaries
Footprint is 130 mm high by 76.2 mm wide by 70 mm deep — a compact 3-pole frame that fits standard MCCB mounting positions in SENTRON distribution boards or standalone enclosures. The 70 mm depth keeps the breaker clear of the gland plate in shallow backboxes. Comes factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus a trip alarm switch (HQ configuration) and a shunt trip release (STL). That means you get remote status indication and a remote-trip capability without ordering separate accessory kits — one order code covers the full switching and signaling chain. Max power loss is 17.3 W per pole at rated current — useful to know for thermal budgeting inside a sealed enclosure. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it's comfortable on 690 V systems with margin.
Lifecycle and compliance
The 3VA series is Siemens' SENTRON molded-case platform, designed for UL 489 and IEC 60947-2 compliance. The breaker carries the standard approvals for North American and European installations — UL, CSA, and CE marking are inherent to the platform.
