What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1163-4GD46-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current across four poles, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic trip unit designed for line protection in distribution panels. The 63 A rating holds from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C — so if your panel runs hot, you lose headroom above 50 °C. Breaking capacity runs 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V, which covers most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications where high fault current is expected. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's suited for 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function — this is a straight thermal-magnetic breaker for basic overcurrent protection.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, and 130 mm tall — that's 2.76 in by 4 in by 5.12 in. Four-pole width at 101.6 mm is standard for a 4-pole MCCB in this frame size; it clips onto a DIN rail or mounts with screws to a backplate. Front IP40 protection keeps dust out of the mechanism but isn't rated for washdown. No trip indicator on the front face, so you'll need a panel-mounted indicator or rely on the handle position to tell if it's tripped.
