Panel fit and interrupting capacity
The 3VA1163-4GF46-0AA0: Interrupting capacity is the headline here: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and still 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA figure at 240 V means this breaker clears high-fault conditions common on large transformer secondaries or generator paralleling — the kind of fault that would weld a standard 65 kA rated device shut. At 690 V the 11.9 kA still covers most industrial distribution panels. Dimensions: 101.6 mm wide (4 inches), 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. That width is a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint — fits existing SENTRON mounting bases and busbar adapters without panel rework. IP40 on the front face, so it's fine for a clean indoor panel; keep it out of washdown zones.
Derating and thermal management
Rated 63 A up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, the curve drops: 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C. That 5 A total loss from 50 °C to 70 °C is mild — the TM240 release is thermally efficient, so you don't lose a full frame size in a hot enclosure. Maximum power dissipation is 17.3 W at rated load; plan ventilation if stacking breakers in a sealed cabinet. Operating range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage floor matters if this sits in an unheated warehouse over winter — no issue down to -40 °C.
Sourcing and lifecycle
No communication function onboard — this is a standalone thermal-magnetic breaker, not a power metering or communication variant. If you need remote trip indication, plan for an auxiliary switch add-on (the product extension for motor drive is available, meaning the mechanical accessories slot is populated).
