63 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V
The Siemens 3VA1163-5ED32-0AG0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that govern selectivity coordination in high-fault panels. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) supports 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin. The TM210 release is fixed (non-adjustable thermal and magnetic trip), suited for line protection of feeders and distribution boards where coordination studies are already locked. The auxiliary contact package includes one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HP type), giving the PLC or BMS a dedicated fault signal without an add-on module.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C without derating. At 55 °C it carries 60.48 A, at 60 °C it carries 59.22 A, at 65 °C it carries 57.96 A, and at 70 °C it carries 56.7 A — a gentle slope that keeps the 60 A bus rating viable in a warm enclosure. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard 3-pole MCCB mounting footprints; the 130 mm height clears most distribution panel covers with room for gland plates. Front protection is IP40 — suitable for dry indoor panels. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The trip indicator (mechanical flag) is visible through the front cover, so a walk-by inspection confirms the breaker state without opening the door.
