Integrator's spec recap
The Siemens 3VA1163-5ED32-0HA0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 molded case circuit breaker with a 63 A fixed thermal-magnetic trip (TM210). Breaking capacity is class M at 55 kA Icu at 415 V AC — sized for high-fault panels where a standard 36 kA unit would need upstream fuses for coordination. The shunt trip (STL) operates on 12–30 V DC or 24 V AC, so it integrates with a 24 V DC safety circuit or a separate control transformer without an interposing relay.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 55 kA Icu at 415 V is the maximum short-circuit current the breaker can interrupt without damage — class M in the 3VA1 family, which sits above standard (S) and below high-performance (H) frames. For a 415 V panel with a transformer rating above 2 MVA or a utility fault current near 50 kA, this unit provides the headroom to avoid cascading failure upstream. The fixed Ir=63 A and Ii=10 x In mean the instantaneous pickup is at 630 A; that suits motor or transformer feeder protection where a lower magnetic trip would nuisance-trip on inrush. The TM210 thermal curve is a standard inverse-time characteristic for cable and general distribution protection.
Panel integration
Mounts on DIN rail or direct panel-mount via the frame 160 footprint. The nut keeper kit is included — that locks the busbar or cable lug nuts against vibration in a shipping or machine-mounted enclosure. Shunt trip wiring lands on the accessory terminals; polarity matters for the DC supply, so verify the 12–30 V DC connection before energizing.
