63 A MCCB with TM220 release — line protection duty
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-5EE32-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its TM220 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit faults without an undervoltage or shunt trip — pure overcurrent protection, no auxiliary functions. The breaker carries 187 kA breaking capacity at 240 V, tapering to 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — so at common 400 V-class distribution voltages it still clears 121 kA, which covers most industrial service-entrance and subfeed applications.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C, then drops to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, you lose 1–5 A; factor that into the load schedule. The breaker body is 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount panel integration. Two HP auxiliary switches are built in (design of the auxiliary switch: 2 auxiliary switches HP), so you get position feedback without an add-on module.
