What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1163-5EE32-0DH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It is a 3-pole unit rated for 63 A continuous at 40 °C, with a rated insulation voltage of 800 V. The interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 VAC, which means it can safely clear a fault of that magnitude without upstream damage — relevant for high-fault-capacity industrial services or transformer secondaries. The breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) and carries two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ configuration). This allows remote status monitoring and undervoltage protection in a single package — useful for safety circuits where a loss of control voltage must trip the breaker.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 63 A rating holds through 50 °C, then derates linearly to 58 A at 70 °C. In a warm panel — say 55 °C internal ambient — you can still carry 62 A continuous. This matters for panel builders sizing feeders in non-air-conditioned enclosures.
Dimensions and panel fit
Footprint is 76.2 mm wide by 130 mm tall by 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB form factor. Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for wiring gutters in a 200 mm deep enclosure.
