What this MCCB delivers on the line
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-5EF32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current, built for line protection in distribution panels and motor control centers. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without external trip units, keeping the BOM simple. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — that's headroom for high-fault installations where upstream coordination matters. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 480 V and 600 V class systems.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Full 63 A rating holds through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 60.48 A, at 60 °C to 59.22 A, at 65 °C to 57.96 A, and at 70 °C to 56.7 A. That's a shallow derating curve — you don't lose much headroom in a warm enclosure. The breaker measures 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, and 70 mm deep, fitting standard panel-mount cutouts. Front IP40 protection keeps dust out of the enclosure face; the IP rating doesn't extend to the terminals, so plan for proper glanding on the wiring side.
Integrated undervoltage release — no auxiliary contacts
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) built in — part number 3VA9608-0BB24 for the integrated auxiliary trip. The UVR drops the breaker if control voltage falls below the dropout threshold, which is standard for safety circuits that need a loss-of-voltage trip. There are no auxiliary contacts on this version, so if you need status feedback to a PLC, plan for a separate auxiliary switch block. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, no phase-failure detection — this is a clean line-protection breaker with just the UVR.
