What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA1163-5EF36-0AE0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection — 63 A continuous at 40 °C, with no derating needed up to 50 °C (still 63 A). Above that, it steps down: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. That matters if your panel runs hot; the breaker doesn't force a bigger frame just because ambient hits 50 °C. Breaking capacity is the headline number for an MCCB, and this one carries 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. Those are the maximum fault currents it can safely interrupt at each voltage — critical for sizing upstream protection and verifying SCCR on the panel label. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so it's rated for 690 V systems with margin. The overcurrent release is a TM240 — thermal-magnetic, fixed at 63 A, not adjustable. Four auxiliary switches (HQ type) are built in, giving you status feedback without adding external contact blocks.
Panel integration and mounting
Three-pole design, 76.2 mm wide (roughly 3 inches), 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. Front face is IP40 — protected against tools and wires >1 mm, but not sealed against water. Mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel; the 70 mm depth fits standard enclosure depths without crowding the gland plate.
