What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-5EF36-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous at 40 °C, with a rated insulation voltage of 800 V. Its breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 440 V — numbers that tell you it's built for high-fault panels where a standard MCCB would weld its contacts. At 500 V and 690 V it still holds 17 kA, so it handles industrial 480 V and 600 V class systems without cascading upstream. This unit is configured for line protection (cable/feeder duty), not motor protection — the thermal-magnetic curve is set for overcurrent and short-circuit on distribution circuits. It ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted, plus 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C. In a sealed enclosure with poor airflow, that 70 °C ambient knocks off 5 A — plan your load margin accordingly. Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep, so it fits standard 3-pole MCCB slots in a SENTRON or third-party distribution panel. Max power loss is 19.8 W, manageable for thermal coordination in a crowded cabinet. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or cable ducts behind the breaker.
