The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-5EF36-0BH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection duty. It carries a 63 A rated continuous current (Iu) and is fitted with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release — a fixed thermal trip paired with a magnetic trip that holds through to 240 A before instantaneous opening. The interrupting ratings climb to 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V, giving it serious fault-clearing headroom for high-available-fault-current panels.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated continuous current holds at 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range extends from -40 °C to 80 °C. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) sets the maximum system voltage the breaker's insulation is designed to withstand.
Auxiliary and undervoltage release
This variant ships with two auxiliary switches plus one trip-alarm switch (HQ configuration). It also includes an undervoltage release (UVR), which trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below a set threshold — useful for preventing automatic restart after a power loss. The integrated auxiliary trip module carries order code 3VA9608-0BB11. No communication function or phase-failure detection is fitted.
Panel fit and protection class
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount panel integration. Front-face protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers stay out but the breaker is not sealed against moisture. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15 000 operations.
