What this breaker does
The 3VA1163-5MH36-0KH0 is a 3-pole IEC molded-case circuit breaker on a 160 A frame, rated 63 A continuous with a TM120M thermal-magnetic trip unit. The 'M' breaking capacity class delivers 55 kA interrupting capacity at 415 V AC — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or large motor branch circuits without cascading upstream. The trip is set for starter protection (motor short-circuit only; no overload — that's handled by the external overload relay). Short-circuit pickup Ii is adjustable 5 to 15 x In, so you tune it to the motor's locked-rotor current. A built-in shunt trip (STL) accepts 220-250 V DC or 208-277 V AC for remote emergency-off or PLC-driven trip. Two auxiliary switches (HQ) and one trip alarm switch (HQ) report breaker status and fault condition back to the control system. Clamp-type terminals accept copper or aluminum conductors without lug kits — speeds panel wiring.
