What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1163-6EF32-0AF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a rated current of 63 A at 40 °C and holds that rating through 50 °C before a slight derate begins — 62 A at 55 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C, so in a warm enclosure you still have most of the headroom. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V. That puts it in the high-interrupting category — it can clear a bolted fault on a large transformer secondary without upstream fuses needing to help. At 500 V and 690 V it still holds 17 kA, enough for most motor-circuit fault levels.
Integration and mounting
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most Siemens SENTRON panelboards and third-party enclosures with the appropriate mounting kit. The auxiliary switch configuration is one auxiliary contact plus one trip alarm switch (HQ type), so you get both a status signal and a separate alarm on fault. Power loss at rated load is 17.3 W maximum — modest enough that ventilation in a typical enclosed panel is adequate, but worth checking if the breaker is packed tight with other heat sources.
