What this MCCB delivers on the line side
The Siemens 3VA1163-6EF32-0AG0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying 63 A continuously at 40 °C and derating to 58 A at 70 °C. Its interrupting capacity hits 220 kA at 240 V, dropping to 154 kA at 415 V and 121 kA at 440 V — still substantial headroom for most industrial service-entrance or feeder applications. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit response without external power. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it comfortably covers 480/600 V class systems.
Mounting and integration
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for panel-mounting on a DIN rail or direct screw fixing. The supplied basic switch carries one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HP type), giving you a dry contact for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator. No undervoltage release or communication module fitted on this variant, so if you need remote trip or Modbus, you'll add those as accessories. Power loss is rated at 17.3 W maximum — factor that into your enclosure thermal budget if you're stacking multiple breakers in a sealed panel.
Thermal derating and ambient range
Full 63 A rating holds through 50 °C; at 55 °C it drops to 62 A, at 60 °C to 61 A, and at 65 °C to 60 A. At 70 °C ambient you're at 58 A. Operating range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. If your panel sits near a furnace or in a hot attic, use the 60 °C or 65 °C row for sizing.
