The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-6EF32-0KC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection. Its 220 kA breaking capacity at 240 V means it can safely interrupt high fault currents in main distribution panels without cascading failures upstream. The 800 V rated insulation voltage supports use in 480 V and 600 V class systems with adequate margin.
Ratings and thermal performance
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C (–), then derates to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C (–). That derating curve is tight — only 5 A lost by 70 °C — so the breaker keeps its full rating in most panel ambient conditions. Maximum power loss is 17.3 W, which matters for heat buildup in a densely packed enclosure.
Breaking capacity across voltages
Breaking capacity drops with system voltage: 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. The steep fall above 440 V is typical for MCCBs; at 480/500 V the 17 kA still covers most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications.
Auxiliary and release options
This variant ships with two auxiliary switches HQ and a shunt trip (STL) release. The auxiliary switches provide status feedback (open/closed/tripped) to a PLC or indication lamp. The shunt trip allows remote opening via a control voltage — useful for emergency-stop or interlock circuits. No undervoltage release is fitted.
Mounting and panel fit
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 3-pole footprint is standard for SENTRON 3VA MCCBs; it mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate. The 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is a common MCCB pitch, so it fits existing busbar and terminal layouts without re-spacing.
